Our Story
The Story Behind the Spirit of the Spirit Initiative:
Since the beginning of the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip, we took it upon ourselves to support our people in Gaza as much as possible.
After a women from the central Gaza Strip contacted us, we began by supporting the first family, and then other families began to reach out asking for help. Due to the geographical and political separation between the West Bank and Gaza Strip, we were unable to implement initiatives like we had in the northern West Bank. We found that the only way to support the families who contacted us through social media was through direct financial support. We started with ourselves and donated what we could. As the scale of destruction, killing, and oppression in Gaza increased, the number of families in need increased. Faced with this oppression, we began to reach out to friends who were quick to offer support.
We started with one family, then twenty, then thirty-five, tirelessly throughout the months of the genocidal war. Eventually, the number of families we financially supported through family and friends reached more than 170 families, including orphaned children, widowed women, families without breadwinners, or fathers who lost their partners due to the genocide.
We provided financial support to heads of households who lost their livelihoods and income, and we assisted university students who attempted to complete their education online.
We also worked to provide:
• Medicine, given the destruction of hospitals and medical centers, the difficulty of transportation, and the arrest of doctors.
• Food for affected families.
• Baby formula.
• Diapers for newborns.
• Winter clothes for children in the bitter cold.
• Tarpaulins and tents for families who lost their homes.
We also provided electronic medical consultations for some women and children, connecting them with specialists in the field.
As the genocide continues and the atrocities are revealed more and more victims are in need of help and we managed to provide psychological, along with material support to eight individuals electronically, despite the limited internet availability. We are awaiting an improvement in the situation in the Strip so that the scope of psychological, financial, and medical support can be expanded.
Hence, the Soul of the Soul initiative website was created to connect the largest number of families in need directly with individuals, families, and institutions willing to provide support, in light of the increasing psychological, moral, medical, and material suffering.
As the horrors of the genocidal war began to unfold, the suffering became clearer, and the realization and understanding of what had happened became clear, as did attempts to accept the bitter reality and adapt to the comprehensive psychological, moral, medical, and material destruction. This was the motivation behind the Soul of the Soul initiative, with hope and belief that humanity is the cornerstone.
